Get inspired with great interaction
Loads of the companies will be there wanting you to get involved in their demonstrations and activities. Many of them are running competitions so you can have fun and try to win some great prizes.In 2011 some of the companies had the the following activities taking place...
If you’ve got a great head for heights and want to climb to the top of over 140 different professions visit the Army stand. Soldiers will be on hand to help you get a leg up on their 30 ft climbing wall and share their career experiences.
Stockport College will be serving up a treat with catering demonstrations from students and lecturers, you’ll be able to find out about the different courses and snack on the results. Stockport students will also be changing faces as they showcase their media make-up skills and transform their looks.

Babcock Training will be challenging students interested in hospitality with their mystery boxes, stick your hand in and work out what food it is – what could be easier? They’ll also be challenging you to guess how many units of alcohol there are in different drinks, and what retailers need to consider when selling alcohol.
The Royal Navy & Royal Marines will be testing strength and endurance with their commando challenge, it’s not as easy as it looks, as you have to carry packs back to base and rescue a man down.
If a career in chiropractic treatment interests you then visit the AECC who will have a life size skeleton, x-ray pictures and chart diagrams to help you discover what career opportunities are avialable.
Buxton College will be showcasing a range of subject areas including sport & leisure, catering & hospitality, hair & beauty and motor vehicle studies so visit them if you want to find out about staying on and studying.
Virtual racing careers at the Careersinracing stand,try out the new Wii jockey game and compete against your mates, then try it for real on their mechanical racehorse!
If you fancy building a career visit the CITB-ConstructionSkills demonstration and join in building a wall and watch the students as they hone their skills in plaster work. Visit Kaplan and take part in the “Kaplan Challenge”. A fun interactive quiz designed to help you understand the benefits of a Kaplan Apprenticeship. Each player will be asked a series of questions and the person who gains the most correct answers in the fastest time will win a £5 shopping voucher!
McDonald’s is one of the biggest national employers with restaurants right across the UK. Find out about their learning path and the skills you would gain through working at McDonald’s and their apprenticeship programme.

Say it with flowers by visiting Myerscough College where the stand will be decorated with floral displays and horticultural planters, showcasing their students’ work and the careers and courses on offer.
University of Bolton, Special Effects (SFX) students will be on hand to transform visitors as they demonstrate sculpting, media makeup and prosthetics techniques.

You can visit Skills North West at any time. With so much to see we offer special staggered slots for big groups so everyone gets a chance to try the interactive features. We recommend visiting the event for approximately two hours.
